Founder of My Healthful Life
Hi! I'm Annie, and one of my greatest passions is nutrition. I have been interested in health and wellness from a young age, but it quickly became a passion when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was only 12 years old. From that point on, my entire family was very conscious about what we put into our bodies. I think because I was so young at the time, it had a very profound effect on me and changed my life in more ways than I ever would have imagined.
I was incredibly fortunate to have grown up in a family that really appreciated and celebrated food. I may be one of the few people who can truly say I was a "foodie" by about age 13! That is why it is my mission to help people learn that healthy food does not have to be bland or boring. It can be full of flavor something that you really love!
My passion for health is what ultimately led me to study nutrition and dietetics at The University of Texas at Austin, for which I have a bachelor's degree. I am currently attending graduate school at Texas Woman's University working towards my master's degree in nutrition and license as a Registered Dietitian.
While nutrition is my main focus, I don't think it is the only component to living a healthful life. I am a firm believer that living a healthful life is all about balance. You must nourish your body with good food, but you must also feed your mind and soul. I definitely take a more holistic approach to health.
When I'm not busy studying for classes, writing blog posts, or coming up with new recipes, I love to spend time with my family, friends, and my three crazy puppies (the picture below is of Scout, who is the craziest of them all)! I have been practicing yoga for seven years, and I love to sing and play guitar! I love to travel, and I am a big proponent of living in the moment and grabbing every opportunity that comes your way.
I know it's not easy to change your diet and other behaviors to be healthier. Trust me - growing up, I was the vegetarian who hated vegetables... now I'm known as the Kale Enthusiast! If I can do it, so can you!
Join me as I share with you my love for nutrition, yoga, traveling, and so much more. Together we will learn how to take better care of ourselves so that we may give our best in every aspect of our lives. Let's create a community where living a life of health and gratitude is at our core.
